Adopt Marley

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Senior · 14 years

Marley is a lovely 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier searching for a quiet and comfortable retirement home where he can enjoy his golden years. Marley came into our care following the sad loss of his owner, and he is now hoping to find a special person or couple who can offer him the love, stability, and companionship he deserves. As Marley has never lived with other animals or children, he is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He enjoys a calm lifestyle and would be happiest in a peaceful environment with people who understand that older dogs appreciate life at a gentler pace. Although he's no longer able to go on long adventures, Marley still enjoys short walks to stretch his legs and explore the world around him. A secure garden where he can potter about, sniff the flowers, and soak up the sunshine would be a wonderful bonus. At home, Marley is a real sweetheart who loves curling up on the sofa for a cuddle. He also enjoys being brushed and will happily accept a tasty treat or two. Marley may be a senior gentleman, but he has plenty of love left to give. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share quiet days and cosy evenings with, Marley could be the perfect addition to your home.

About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Animal Concern Cumbria in Egremont.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Concern Cumbria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Concern Cumbria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Concern Cumbria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
