Max

Mixed Breed · Male

This story concerns Maks. The dog who AGAIN found himself behind shelter bars and AGAIN for his innocence. He was surrendered. Why? Because a child had entered the picture. The child wasn't a surprise that could have shocked anyone. The child was already on the way when the young couple came to us looking for a family dog. Yes, we know, it's a difficult situation. We want to find Maks a new home, but such adoptions are fraught with great risk. Common sense suggests that the arrival of a new family member might result in "re-homing" Maks to a second place. A little person entering the family naturally draws all the attention and takes up the family's time. However, we believed that the young couple understood this obvious situation. After all, we talked about the future, about how they planned to organize their lives when a little person appeared on the scene, and where there would be room for a dog. In theory, everything seemed to fit. We wanted to give Maks the chance to live in a home so much that we decided to take the risk and place him for adoption. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Reality surpassed our imaginations. Hopes for a happy life crumbled after a year and three months. The call to the animal shelter left no illusions. Maks is back. Our offers of help, attempts to find a solution to the existing situation, did not help. The dog was no longer needed, and to make matters worse, he became a burden in daily life. In a short time after the child's birth, Maks was relegated to the backyard. Maks completely did not understand this. Abandoned by a human, without attention and the warmth of a home, he sat under the door, unable to get inside. Over time, he became frustrated, scratching at the door and barking. He became a burden to the family, which was already occupied with its affairs. Maks was unnecessary. Now, again, he is in a shelter box, not understanding anything. After all, Maks is a really wonderful dog. Gentle, affectionate, and happy. He gets along with calm dogs and is happy to go for walks. He has a lot of energy that he could share with at least a few people. All Maksio needs is a person and a home. We are looking for a place where he will have the opportunity to live continuously with a caregiver. Maksio doesn't like being alone, and this must be taken into account. If you are able to take care of Maks fully—call. Maksio is waiting and ready to change his address right away. We are waiting for your home.

A przecież to naprawdę wspaniały pies. Łagodny, przytulaśny i radosny. Jedyne, czego Maksio potrzebuje to człowiek i dom.

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
