Merino

Mixed Breed · Male

Merino is a very young, less than one-year-old dog who has already gone through serious health challenges in his short life. He came to us from an animal shelter with a complicated elbow fracture. He is a dog with an extremely gentle and balanced temperament. On walks, he behaves perfectly: he ignores street traffic and passes by other dogs with complete indifference. In interactions with people, he is loving and calm, although he may feel some mild stress during the first contact with new people. Merino is an attentive student – he already knows commands such as "sit", "lie down" or "paw" and gladly cooperates in training with targeting. He only requires attention when eating, as he can assertively signal that he doesn't like it when something is taken directly from his mouth. He will perfectly fit beside someone looking for a calm, non-confrontational companion. Merino accepts children, and reacts to cats with total indifference, making him a great candidate for living in a multi-species family. — METRYCZKA — 🧮 Age: 02.2025 🚻 Gender: male 🐾 Size: 10.40kg 🏀 Activity: medium ❤️ neutering: yes ℹ️ Chip: yes 💉 Vaccinations: yes 📍 Location:

To pies o niezwykle łagodnym i zrównoważonym usposobieniu. About Merino

What life with Merino looks like

Merino is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Merino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Merino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Merino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Merino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Merino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Merino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Merino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
