Mia (w)

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Friendly, gentle, and lively MIA is currently in critical need of a home. And the reason is that her sister MIA was found in the forest with her four siblings in early 2024. They were in no good condition and had to be heavily pampered for the first period. But all of them survived and became wonderful and beautiful dogs. Three of her siblings have already traveled to their families in Germany. MIA and her sister SMILLA have not been so fortunate. The two girls were probably very attached to each other and were always together. Whether in the yard or in the run. Unfortunately, this has changed in the last few weeks. SMILLA has started to bully her sister. No one knows why, but MIA is suffering greatly from it. Not only because she is simply too nice to stand up to anything, but also and especially because her sister was always her anchor in the animal shelter's daily life. She no longer understands the world. During our visits in Romania, we experienced MIA as a wonderful dog girl. Open, always friendly to everyone, clingy even with strangers, and at the same time not intrusive. Or she would play with the other dogs and especially with her sister. Now MIA is becoming increasingly sad, and Dana has sent out a plea for help. This wonderful girl needs a family. Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and with an EU passport. Can be tested for cats. Friendly, cuddly, and gets along well with other dogs. MIA is not a small fluffy dog. She does not fit the dog image that many people now wish for. This saddens us because dogs like MIA are the victims of our society, which we simply do not understand and often saddens us. MIA is simply normally sized, wonderfully, exactly as a dog should be. And she has the most beautiful dog nose in the world. Please open your hearts and give MIA a chance. Now she is looking for a basket and will conquer you and your family with a storm. MIA will be dewormed, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, and with an EU passport when leaving Romania and will be rehomed. All our dogs come to Pottenstein and would also like to be picked up here. Contact: or here on fb. All our dogs travel with official Trace papers and of course, we also have Paragraph 11.

DE·Show original

About Mia (w)

What life with Mia (w) looks like

Mia (w) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
