Mica

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Adult · 7 years

Little Mica is a worried little thing who hides behind her bed at times, but once she's settled with you she's much more forthcoming. She really appreciates a slow approach so that she has time to suss things out and find her feet. We know Mica is getting there as we've spied her playing with her toys by herself when she doesn't realise we're watching! She enjoys her walks and even meeting other dogs, and she doesn't seem concerned about the bigger ones. She has been off lead playing with another small dog, but when sharing her kennel there was an altercation with another female, so she's probably suited to being the only at home but with some pals for walks and games. Mica has poorly skin and her little paws were quite red and sore when she arrived, but with the right treatment she's definitely improving. This may be something she has for the rest of her life so her adopters must be prepared that Mica may always need medication and a hypoallergenic diet. Mica can live with children of high school age but not other pets. She is very worried at the moment but she could be introduced to some walking friends once she's settled in. We have no history for Mica so cannot guarantee that she is house trained or has been used to spending anytime by herself before. Mica has skin and ear issues that are currently being managed with medication and diet.

About Mica

What life with Mica looks like

Mica is a small adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
