Migo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Migo had bad luck: When his owner suddenly passed away, he and his dog friend were left alone in the garden, and since no one took care of them, they ended up at the animal shelter. At first, Migo was very unsettled by the change in environment and was skeptical of the new people. However, after getting used to his new surroundings, he revealed his true nature: open and friendly, he shows his trusted people full trust. The charming and sturdy fellow blazes when he is allowed out of the kennel and clearly enjoys the run and mental stimulation. Unfortunately, he has already spent several years at the animal shelter and does not get this luxury as often. It is high time that Migo finds people who can share his love and explore the world with him. Ideally, he should not have to share his new home with other dogs, as dog introductions are decided by mutual liking. However, he gets along well with most fellow animals. Since Migo is large and strong, children in the household should already be 12 years old and stable. We are rooting for him to finally be seen and enjoy the happiness of having a home! Glück für Pfoten e.V. – The Path to a New Life – Tel. and Mail: including safety harness. As we are working, we might only be able to get back to you later in the day. Please contact the above mentioned mediator initially in writing and request a callback. Please be patient! Our sheltered animals travel with Traces and are exclusively rehomed within Germany (nationwide). If you are applying for a dog and renting, please arrange a written landlord's statement that the husbandry of (another or a new) dog is allowed. We can only place dogs that do not require an elevator in the second floor to prevent health limitations.

About Migo

What life with Migo looks like

Migo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glück für Pfoten e.V. in Dortmund.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Migo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Migo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glück für Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Migo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Migo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glück für Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Migo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Migo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glück für Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Migo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
