Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Cat Now! Mio has found his forever home! His Story: Mio was found alone and in very poor condition on the street. He had been exposed not only to hunger, cold, and danger but also plagued by fleas and ear mites. The staff of the Animal Police, who found him and brought him to us, asked for help for this handsome young tomcat. Meanwhile, Mio is now completely healthy and fit and ready to start his search for a family. This cat with his interesting coat pattern is incredibly active. He loves playing—whether with people, toys, other cats, or even by himself. Curious and a little bit quirky, he explores his world and enjoys life to the fullest. However, this sweetie also loves being petted by his humans and being close to them. New situations don't scare him at all; he adapts quickly and brings lots of energy and joy to any home. For Mio, we would therefore like to find a home where at least one other very playful and active cat already lives—or where he can move in together with another cat. Dogs don't seem to be a problem for him either. Mio is also allowed to enjoy outdoor access, provided his new home is quietly located and the surrounding area is relatively traffic-free and safe. When Mio leaves us—upon payment of a protection fee—he is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Of course, he’ll have his EU pet passport with him. If you’d like to give Mio a loving home filled with plenty of play and fun, we’d be delighted to hear from you. We sincerely thank Christine, who gave Mio his wonderful name—and thus the chance at happiness. As of June 21, 2026 Further information on pre-adoption screening and protection fees

About Mio

What life with Mio looks like

Mio is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
