Adopt Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 11 years

* Mobby is looking for animal sponsors * Born: around May 2015, in the animal shelter since: 05.10.2019, male, neutered The Old German Shepherd, Mobby, has been in the animal shelter for over five years. This is almost half of his life, as he will be turning 10 next May. Mobby was given up due to biting incidents. He took the guarding of property and "his" people a bit too seriously. Initially, he was very reserved and showed little interest in contact with humans. Before being given up, he lived outdoors but is mostly house-trained. Cats and small animals should not live in his new home due to his prey drive. He also tends to resource guard, so there should not be any young children in his new home. Dealing with Mobby is still not entirely easy, but some progress has been made. Mobby's strong protective instinct has been confirmed. Mobby tends to trust women more than men. Thanks to intensive training, Mobby tolerates wearing a muzzle and can go for walks, which he really enjoys. Mobby knows basic commands and is very cuddly and playful. His new people should definitely have experience with shepherd dogs or somewhat challenging dogs. He tends to want to protect his primary caregiver, and this needs to be worked on intensively—ideally with good dog training classes. About Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund

What life with Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund looks like

Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn in Dingolfing.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mobby - Altdeutscher Schäferhund and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
