Adopt Mongly

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 9 years

Mongly was likely born in 2021 and is currently still in Spain. He lived in a senior living home where a volunteer from our Spanish partner works. She then took him in to give him a chance at a better life. This black treasure loves being stroked and enjoys being close to people. Unfortunately, he tested positive for FIV. Thankfully, his FeLV test came back negative. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is similar to human AIDS. It is specific to cats and not transmissible to other animals or humans. The disease primarily spreads through bites between cats. FIV causes immune deficiency in the animals, but often the cats remain symptom-free for many years. The life expectancy of infected cats is just as high as that of healthy cats. Mongly is also symptom-free and otherwise healthy. Due to his positive FIV test, Mongly will only be rehomed in suitable for apartment living. Despite his diagnosis, he is an absolute treasure—calm, incredibly loving, and social. Therefore, this black tomcat would be happy to have the company of another positive cat in his new home. He could also bring one of his "FIVis" with him. With lots of human attention, he could also be happy alone in his new home. If there are dogs in the new home, it's no problem for this social tomcat, as he currently lives with a dog in his foster home. Mongly will be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped upon entry. Would you like to give this calm and gentle tomcat a loving home?

About Mongly

What life with Mongly looks like

Mongly is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mongly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mongly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mongly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mongly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mongly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mongly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mongly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
