Mora

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

In spring and autumn, animal shelters in Spain (and hardly less so in southern France) are overflowing. At the beginning and end of the hunting season, hunters sort their dogs like old clothes. Every dog that is no longer fit for chasing, injured or sick, or too slow, is cruelly killed, abandoned or, in the best and unfortunately still rare case, handed over to an animal protection organization. Mora is thus among the lucky ones who have escaped with their lives and didn't have to struggle on the streets for months. Mora was surrendered along with a litter of puppies, and she has been lovingly taking care of her babies in recent weeks. Now the little ones have moved into their own families, and Mora is waiting at her foster family's home in Seville for someone to offer her a future as a family dog. Mora is a kind and calm dog lady who is just barely four years old (as of 03/2023). After a short time, she has understood how much better her life is since she has been in the expert and loving hands of the animal welfare workers from El Eden. Mora is very people-oriented and now enjoys every cuddle. In addition, our elegant dog lady has already discovered new hobbies for herself. On the one hand, Mora really enjoys going by car, especially nice excursions into nature, during which you can explore the world with your favorite people and calmly sniff flowers. On the other hand, Mora has recently developed a love for rock climbing. But don't worry, she won't conquer garden fences or even trees like many Podencos; our cheerful bat-eared dog has specialized in furniture, especially chairs have become her favorite. Mora is now looking for an active and understanding family who will patiently explain to her all the things she has not yet experienced. She wishes for people who understand a lot about cuddling and petting and who give her the time to gather all the experiences at her own pace that will turn a discarded hunting dog into a beloved and spoiled family dog.

About Mora

What life with Mora looks like

Mora is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
