Morena

German Shepherd · Female · Senior · 10 years

Morena - an experienced shepherd dog looking for her forever home. A new chapter has begun for Morena. The German shepherd dog was able to move to a foster home in Germany and leave the animal shelter behind. This step is particularly significant for an older dog. After the stressful time at the shelter, Morena can now settle in, relax, and experience what a structured daily life with fixed contact persons feels like. Morena continues to show herself as a friendly, people-oriented, and very pleasant companion. She seeks the company of her humans, enjoys affection and walks together, and wants above all to be part of daily life. Her calm, reliable nature makes her a wonderful dog for people who want a loyal and dependable canine partner. At her foster home, Morena lives harmoniously with other dogs. Here, as before, it is confirmed: she is social, compatible, and brings a pleasant calmness to living with other dogs. Despite her age, Morena should by no means be underestimated. As a German shepherd, she brings the typical breed traits of loyalty, sensitivity, and a desire for bonding. She does not simply want to "follow along," but to be actively involved in the lives of her humans. Regular exercise, mental engagement, and a stable environment remain important for her even in her golden years. Older dogs are often overlooked, yet they often bring a special clarity, calmness, and deep ability to bond. At the same time, choosing a senior dog also means responsibility - especially regarding possible age-related needs, care, and health support. Therefore, we wish for Morena people who will welcome her with respect, affection, and reliability, and give her a permanent place in their lives. She still has so much to give and deserves to spend her remaining years not in a transitional situation, but finally in a home for good.

Trotz ihres Alters sollte man Morena keinesfalls unterschätzen.

About Morena

What life with Morena looks like

Morena is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Morena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Morena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Morena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Morena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Morena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Morena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Morena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
