adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nio has found his people! His story: In late May, our cute Nio was allowed to move into his foster family near Ludwigsburg. Here he lives peacefully with two other dogs and has already gained a lot of security in a short time. The young puppy has a very sweet personality, approaches people confidently, openly, and curiously, and overall appears balanced. Visitors are greeted with joy and enthusiasm, and Nio is generally a rather quiet dog who enjoys his extensive walks, loves to snuggle at home, and takes his downtime seriously. He is eager to learn, and the basic commands are already working well. On walks, he shows no problems with leash handling, and recall works flawlessly. Nio loves all other dogs and always wants to be part of the group, so dog interactions are always friendly and relaxed. Other people, cars, or bicycles are no problem for him; he masters bus and train rides calmly, and children find him great! Nio is just under 5 months old and about 43 cm tall. He will still grow a few more centimeters and probably end up medium to slightly large. Nio fully opens up to his people, is easily led and controlled, and shows a balanced nature. However, puberty is starting to kick in, and you can sometimes see the rebellious attitude in him 🙂 A rural home with an enclosed yard would be ideal, as he likes to be outside and observe his surroundings attentively. He would also surely be happy with a doggy companion in the household. The start of life for Nio and his 3 siblings was far from pretty: they were abandoned unprotected behind a trash can – simply discarded. A friend discovered the puppies in time and brought them directly to the animal clinic in Cluj. Help came too late for one of the siblings. But Nio survived! Our puppy is now ready for his forever home and has the best prerequisites to become a great family member! After a positive EU pet passport check, of course, he also has it in his luggage. In love with Nio? Then ask him directly and arrange a personal meet! Many thanks to Amelie! You gave Nio his name. Last update: 26.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Verliebt in Nio? Vielen Dank an Amelie! Du hast Nio seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 26.06.2025

About Nio

What life with Nio looks like

Nio is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
