Norman (with Bertie)

Guinea Pig · Male · Young · 1 year

Bertie and Norman are handsome entire male guinea pigs looking for a loving forever home where they can continue to grow in confidence. They can be a little shy and a little skittish when meeting new people, but with patience and a gentle approach, you'll soon discover what lovely little characters they are. Once Bertie and Norman get to know you, they become much more relaxed and will happily "chat" away, greeting you with their adorable guinea pig squeaks and letting you know when it's time for food!Like many guinea pigs, Bertie and Norman are not fans of being picked up, but once safely settled on your lap, they enjoy gentle strokes and are content to sit with you while you spend some quiet time together. They are both big foodies and absolutely love fresh vegetables, and will never says no to the occasional healthy sweet treat! They are currently living in an indoor enclosure and are well settled as house guinea pigs. They could be gradually acclimatised to outdoor living during the warmer months if their new owners wished, but they would be happiest being brought back indoors during the colder months to keep warm and comfortable.Bertie and Norman are looking for a home with owners who are happy to let them settle in at their own pace and dedicate time to building a trusting bond. Watching nervous guinea pigs gain confidence is incredibly rewarding, and with a little patience Bertie and Norman will make wonderful companions. If you're looking for two sweet boys who just needs a little time and patience to come out of their shell, Bertie and Norman could be the perfect addition to your family. About Norman (with Bertie)

What life with Norman (with Bertie) looks like

Norman (with Bertie) is a large young adult guinea pig animal waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Norman (with Bertie) far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norman (with Bertie), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norman (with Bertie)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norman (with Bertie) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norman (with Bertie) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norman (with Bertie) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norman (with Bertie) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norman (with Bertie) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
