Olivia &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Olivia now lives in 06618 Naumburg/Saale. All the best, Olivia. Heartfelt thanks, Mr. L. Olivia is the perfect dog! Don't believe it? Then let her convince you. Olivia will be four years old in February 2025, which means she has successfully grown beyond her puppy phase and is still far from being an old dog. Our adorable heartbreaker is a bit more than knee-high and only weighs 16kg, so she is too big to be constantly overlooked, but too small to knock over her best friends with every little hop of joy. Olivia likes children and other dogs, she loves to cuddle and go for walks, but she doesn't need to be constantly entertained and is typically friendly, open-minded, and always ready to form new friendships, as befits a Golden Retriever-Mix. You see, the perfect dog… well, unfortunately not, at least not in the eyes of many people, because Olivia is black. Our charcoal pieces often wait much longer in their enclosures because, well, they are simply black. Unconscious superstition, the strange assumption that black dogs are more aggressive and black cats bring bad luck – all nonsense, and yet still the reason for the unhappiness, albeit on the side of the animals. Olivia was taken in by our partners at "El Bueno Amigo" after being found in a village under suspicious circumstances. In the safety of the animal shelter, the brave mother could raise her babies. The offspring found loving families, and now Olivia is more than ready to adopt her own two-legged family. If you are looking for a really nice dog who will accompany you on daily adventures, make you a cuddlier couch potato, always appreciates your cooking skills (yes, even though you may not believe it, Olivia is a Golden Retriever-Mix), and can brighten even the darkest days despite her black appearance and look exceptionally decorative on light floors, then please get in touch with us.

Olivia lebt jetzt in 06618 Naumburg/Saale. Alles Gute, Olivia.

About Olivia &#8211

What life with Olivia &#8211 looks like

Olivia &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olivia &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olivia &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olivia &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olivia &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olivia &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olivia &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olivia &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
