Omnibus

Mixed Breed · Male

Begin April, our phone rang. It was a colleague shelter that had taken in a cat that had been hit by a tram. Knowing that our veterinarian was present at the time, they asked if they could bring the cat to us urgently. Soon, they arrived with a severely injured cat. It turned out that his head had taken the brunt of the impact. His eye was swollen and bloodshot, his lower jaw was broken, and he also had a diaphragm fracture, creating a direct passage from his mouth to his nose. Omnibus, as we came to call him, had clearly had to give up several of his nine lives in the collision. We at Cat in Need would not be true to our name if we did not give him a fair chance to recover. And so followed weeks of intensive care. The first few days were particularly tough. But as his pain subsided, his true character began to shine through. And what a gem he turned out to be! Omnibus sometimes has to look at the cat out of the tree but is otherwise a real house cat, enjoying all the attention to the fullest, able to talk a blue streak, and always in your vicinity. All treatments, no matter how daunting, he underwent with great courage. From the moment his head no longer hurt so much, he began giving proper headbutts. Now, we are more than two months in, and you would hardly recognize Omnibus again. He is fully recovered and is now ready for a new home. The only reminder of his adventure is a slightly crooked nose. For Omnibus, we are searching for a loving home where he can receive the attention and love he so desperately craves. A household with slightly older children would certainly be suitable. He gets along well with other cats but does not seek them out. Omnibus likes to go outside, but we are looking for a safe environment or a fenced garden so that he does not risk being hit by a car again.

About Omnibus

What life with Omnibus looks like

Omnibus is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Kat in Nood in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Omnibus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Omnibus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kat in Nood handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Omnibus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Omnibus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kat in Nood will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Omnibus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Omnibus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kat in Nood early rather than rehoming privately; they know Omnibus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
