Onda

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Onda - a calm soul is looking for a home Gender: female, spayed Country of origin (current country of residence): Switzerland Country of birth: Italy Onda recently traveled from Italy to Switzerland. She previously lived in a large animal shelter, where the chances of finding a home among the many dogs are unfortunately low. Adult dogs are often overlooked. We hope that Onda can finally find her own family here. Onda is a smaller, slightly plump female dog who needs time to gain trust. Many things are still unfamiliar to her, and she must learn that we humans mean her no harm. If you give her the necessary time and don't pressure her, she will gradually approach you on her own. She also enjoys gentle petting. However, it is important to respect her boundaries and give her the necessary space when she has had enough and wants to withdraw. Onda needs people who can provide her with security, but also gently encourage her. She should learn to feel more secure around her people and not immediately flee at every sudden movement. Small steps and positive experiences are particularly important. She also needs to get to know the normal daily routine and all the new impressions at her own pace. She doesn't know the dog alphabet yet and wants to learn a lot with her people. Since Onda has a few extra pounds, she needs to lose weight slowly and steadily to relieve her joints and improve her quality of life. We wish for Onda a quiet home with patient and understanding people who do not have too high expectations of her and enjoy making small progress with her. She needs people who respect her boundaries, at the same time give her loving security and orientation, and show her that she can rely on them. If you give her the time to develop trust, you may soon experience how more of Onda's great personality comes to light. Please read the following leaflet carefully to familiarize yourself with the needs of the respective animal species. If you are interested, fill out the application form and send it to . Important: Please only apply if you are ready for an adoption in the near future, i.e., not if you have holidays, a move, or something similar pending. We want to prevent our protégés from staying in the animal shelter longer than necessary. Please understand that we will not consider or answer applications without a form or those that do not meet our criteria.

About Onda

What life with Onda looks like

Onda is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli in Switzerland.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Onda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Onda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Onda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Onda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Onda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Onda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli early rather than rehoming privately; they know Onda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
