Onigiri

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 6 months

Onigiri, a black as night cat with a single, unique white mustache, has traveled a long way to his current state. He is approximately 6 years old and his body bears the scars of suffering and homelessness. Despite this, he still trusts and loves humans. He was found at the side of a highway, near a restaurant, curled up in a ball, terrified, waiting for the worst. This could not have been his previous place of residence. He was completely lost. However, good human souls noticed him. Cruelly injured - someone cut off half of his ear "as a sign of castration" and left him. In the temporary home, it turned out that the cat was not castrated at all! Someone stated that he would probably not survive as a blind free-living cat. The procedure was not performed, although it was so drastically marked and abandoned in an unknown area for him. But it was not him, he managed long enough to overcome. He underwent surgery to remove both eyeballs (they were in a tragic state with inflammation) and to remove teeth (only four buds were left to stabilize the jaw). Due to past injuries, the tip of the tail fell off spontaneously (necrosis), and there is a thickening on the rib after mechanical injury (it does not bother him at all). He is positive (FIV+), which means only that he has a lowered immunity and should be an indoor cat. Cats with FIV live long and happy lives in good conditions! And his calm nature allows him to live with other calm cats. In the temporary home, he is one of four cat tenants. There has never been a conflict between them. After all the surgeries, when the pain was forgotten, Onigiri flourished. He is extremely calm and affectionate: he loves to "bark" (shoot lamb with his head at a person) and constantly seeks contact with the owner. He snores beautifully during sleep. You also need to prepare that despite the liked beds, especially covered (type house), the owner will wake up with him on himself or next to him. He likes to play: he started playing only after the operations - now, when nothing hurts, he discovers the joy of life anew! Springs, balls, fishing rods, preferably with sound. He is very delicate. He presses but does not scratch. He plays with a person but does not pull out his claws. His touch is like stroking. He also has significantly smaller paws, which looks adorable with his regained mass. He tolerates travel very well. He enters the transporter without any problem. He approaches other cats neutrally and calmly - he lives in harmony with his surroundings, focusing on his own world and his human. He has a delicate stomach. Requires wet, good quality food. He is a perfect toilet. He copes well without sight - he learns space with whiskers, smell and a big heart. He does not climb on tables, cupboards. The level of the bed is sufficient for him. Chip, neutered, dewormed. Who are we looking for? A non-outdoor home (with secured windows/balcony), which will give him love, peace and a sense of security. He will cope as a single person, in a herd as well, but will not look for greater contact with cats. Ideal cat for someone who expects his close presence, cuddling, sleeping with him and stroking. If you do not change the name, he will approach you at the call. Unless he gets used to the new one. *Our love for blind cats knows no bounds, which is why we conduct adoptions in Poland and abroad. ☎️ 500 383 928 📧

I wyszedł. Pomimo to ciągle ufa i kocha człowieka. Zauważyły go jednak dobre ludzkie dusze. Ale to nie On, On sobie radził dostatecznie długo aby zwyciężyć. Koty z FIV żyją długo i szczęśliwie w dobrych warunkach! A jego spokojna natura pozwala mu mieszkać z innymi spokojnymi kotami. W domu tymczasowym jest jednym z czterech kocich lokatorów. Nigdy nie było konfliktu między nimi. Po wszystkich zabiegach, gdy ból poszedł w niepamięć Oniś rozkwitł. Jest niezwykle spokojny i czuły: uwielbia „barankować” (strzelać baranki główką o człowieka) i stale szuka kontaktu z opiekunem. Cudnie pochrapuje podczas snu. Bez problemu wchodzi do transportera. Wymaga mokrej, dobrej gatunkowo karmy. Kuwetuje się celująco. Doskonale radzi sobie bez wzroku – przestrzeń poznaje wąsami, węchem i wielkim sercem. Nie wchodzi na stoły, komody. Poziom łóżka jest dla niego wystarczający. Zaczipowany, wykastrowany, odrobaczony. Kogo szukamy? ☎️ 500 383 928 📧

About Onigiri

What life with Onigiri looks like

Onigiri is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Onigiri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Onigiri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Onigiri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Onigiri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Onigiri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Onigiri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Onigiri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
