Onyx is a high-energy male who struggles to calm down at the shelter. He is significantly understimulated here and therefore starts to destroy things out of frustration. He needs both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Playing ball with him should be avoided to prevent further agitation. Onyx is open and friendly towards the animal care staff. His basic obedience and leash training are still very much in development. His adopters should be physically capable of handling the large dog, as he can become easily agitated by external stimuli. His compatibility with other dogs depends on their individual personalities, and the size of his companion may also play a role. He is quite selective about his social interactions here. Due to the significant amount of training required, we consider him more suitable as a single dog. He is unlikely to be compatible with cats or small animals. Onyx ist ein hektischer Rüde, der im Tierheim schwer zur Ruhe kommt. Er ist hier deutlich unterfordert und fängt daher an, aus Frust Sachen kaputtzumachen. Er benötigt neben körperlicher Auslastung auf jeden Fall auch viel geistigen Input. Keinesfalls sollte mit ihm Ball gespielt werden, um ihn nicht noch weiter hochzupuschen. Den Tierpflegern gegenüber zeigt sich Onyx offen und freundlich. Seine Grunderziehung und die Leinenführigkeit ist aktuell noch sehr ausbaufähig. Seine Übernehmer sollten dem stattlichen Rüden körperlich gewachsen sein, da er bei Außenreizen recht schnell aus seiner Haut fährt. Seine Verträglichkeit mit Artgenossen kommt auf die Sympathie an, teilweise spielt evtl. auch die Größe seines Gegenübers eine Rolle. Er ist hier bei uns recht wählerisch, was seine Vergesellschaftungen angeht. Wir sehen ihn auch aufgrund seines großen Erziehungsaufwandes eher als Einzelhund.
