Orietta

Mixed Breed · Female

Time and again, our partners in Stintino have been lifesavers—whether it’s cats and dogs who’ve lost their homes, suffered accidents, or been abandoned. A close friend of our partners had been observing three stray dogs wandering aimlessly, constantly searching for food and shelter. Recently, they managed to catch the female dog, and initially, the finder took her into her care. The dog wasn’t doing well health-wise; she had a uterine infection and needed urgent surgery. Now, the dog is doing much better, and so she’s been able to move into the refuge in Stintino. Orietta, as the dog is now called, probably once had a home, as she’s familiar with domestic life. Of course, we don’t know exactly why she ended up on the streets. She wasn’t chipped, so no owner could be identified, and she hadn’t been reported missing either. Orietta is safe at the refuge and is being well cared for. However, her two stray friends, who can also be seen in the video, unfortunately haven’t been secured yet. But that’s set to change soon, because one of the two males is likely blind—or at least severely visually impaired—and the other looks mangy and very energetic. Both should definitely receive help and a chance at a better life. For Orietta, we’re also hoping that she’ll soon be able to begin her journey to Germany, where she can find a forever home with loving people and become part of a close-knit family. Would you like to give little Orietta the hope of a happy dog life? If you’d like to offer Orietta a loving home, we’d be delighted to hear from you. We arrange adoptions nationwide. About Orietta

What life with Orietta looks like

Orietta is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Orietta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Orietta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Orietta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Orietta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Orietta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Orietta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Orietta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
