Paz &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

Paz—just the name of our stunning new arrival already evokes peace, gentleness, and a fresh start. And that’s exactly what we wish for this special dog: a loving home where she can finally feel at ease and share her tenderness with her best friends. Paz was found by a family in a field in Bailén and brought to the shelter of our partner organization. Since then, she has been showing animal welfare advocates every day just how friendly, cheerful, and trusting this little soul truly is. The caramel-colored princess is a young Podenca, approximately one and a half years old (as of 06/2026). She’s already vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and her rapid tests for all Mediterranean diseases have come back negative. Paz gets along well with other dogs, loves playing with toys, and meets people with warmth and openness. She also gets along great with children, which is why we can easily imagine her fitting into a family that treats her with respect, patience, and heartfelt kindness. So far, Paz hasn’t had any experience with cats; therefore, living together with feline companions should be approached carefully, responsibly, and with a thorough assessment on-site. As a Podenca, Paz carries many typical traits of this wonderful breed. Her bat-like ears are elegant, sensitive, attentive, intelligent, and often remarkably perceptive. She has a slender, athletic build, large expressive ears, and an extraordinary lightness in her movements. Originally bred as hunting dogs, many Podencos have a strong urge to move and an innate hunting instinct. Thus, Paz needs people who enjoy walks, activities, and spending time together—but who can also provide her with security, calm, and clear, loving guidance. In a securely fenced area, she’d surely delight in having the freedom to stretch her legs and explore the world with all her senses. In their homes, Podencos often turn out to be surprisingly gentle, quiet, and affectionate companions—if they’re understood and their needs are met. Paz isn’t just a little treasure in terms of character; she’s also exceptionally beautiful. With her elegant appearance, alert gaze, and delicate expression, she draws attention wherever she goes—but it’s her loving nature that touches hearts even more deeply. We’re looking for people who don’t just want to adopt a dog—they’re ready to welcome a true companion into their lives. People who’ll give their new family member time to build trust, see her sensitive soul, and show her that she’s now safe and secure. If you adopt Paz, you’ll gain a joyful, loving, and loyal dog—a gorgeous Podenca just waiting to give her heart away and finally find her own forever home.

DE·Show original

About Paz &#8211

What life with Paz &#8211 looks like

Paz &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paz &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paz &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paz &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paz &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paz &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paz &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paz &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
