Pekin

Mixed Breed · Female

Happy Pekingese for adoption! Pekingese is about 1.5 years old, small dog weighing about 10 kg. He has been in the shelter for a short time and has already made a name for himself as an exceptionally sociable, cheerful and outgoing dog. He values human presence and eagerly seeks attention, petting and time spent together. Pekingese enjoys walks. He walks nicely on a leash, is curious about his surroundings and can derive joy from a simple walk and the presence of the caregiver. He can focus his attention on a person and willingly cooperates with him. He is cheerful, courageous and curious about the world. Relationships with other dogs In his interactions with other dogs, Pekingese is more selective. He can find himself in dog company on the runway, he gets along particularly well with stable, calm females. However, he has a lot of character and likes to assert himself, which is why he would feel best at home as the only dog. Properly selected dog acquaintances on walks or in the runway are not a problem for him, but we are looking for a home without other resident dogs. Close to humans In Pekingese, we see something of a true Pekingese - not only in the characteristic face and compact size, but above all in the great need for closeness to a person. This is a dog that wants to participate in the daily life of the caregiver and enjoy spending time together. He has a charming mix of character, sociability and the need to be close to a person. What kind of home is he looking for? Pekingese is looking for a home where he will be a full member of the family - close to a person, with daily walks, attention and time devoted to him. He is a young, energetic and positive dog with great potential to become a faithful and very close companion to his caregiver.

Wesoły Pekin do adopcji! Jakiego domu szuka? Pekin szuka domu, w którym będzie pełnoprawnym członkiem rodziny – blisko człowieka, z codziennymi spacerami, uwagą i czasem poświęconym właśnie jemu.

About Pekin

What life with Pekin looks like

Pekin is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pekin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pekin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pekin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pekin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pekin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pekin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pekin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
