Pflegehund Pippin

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Since February 2025 in Germany looking for a foster home in: 72574 Bad Urach Estimated age: born around 2014 Estimated shoulder height: about 60 cm Special feature: Grace Place Meet the wonderful Pippin directly in the video! Time is running out for him - male dog Pippin is looking for a home in 72574 Bad Urach! On the streets of Romania, Pippin survived many years all alone. Day after day, he had to fend for himself - without protection, without security, without the safety of a family. Despite these difficult times, he has preserved his friendly nature. Currently, he lives in a foster home in Germany - and from here he is searching for his forever home. Pippin is a dog who touches you immediately with his calm demeanor and loving gaze. He enjoys the little things in life - going for walks together, relaxed moments in the garden, and especially being close to his people. At his foster home, Pippin puts in his best effort every day and waits there longingly for his forever people, where he can settle and grow old. The approximately 10-year-old male dog is a cozy, friendly companion. He feels particularly comfortable in a sunny spot in the garden - there he relaxes in the warmth and also likes to nibble on some blackberries from the bush. He very much enjoys walking and walks superbly on the leash. With exercise and structure, Pippin quickly settles down - especially during cuddling sessions. A small highlight in his daily routine: Pippin loves fruit and vegetables and savor them thoroughly! Pippin is confident and brings a lot of experience with him. He knows basic commands like "Sit," "Stay," and recall, reliably goes to his bed, rides calmly in the car, and can also stay alone for several hours. Despite hip dysplasia and arthritis, he is still fit and looks forward to leisurely walks. Pippin suffers from bilateral hip dysplasia and arthritis, as well as arthritis in the left acetabulum. Therefore, we are looking for a home without many stairs to spare his fur nose pain. Due to his health condition and advanced age, we are seeking a Grace Place for this fur nose. With a Grace Place, higher veterinary costs will be agreed upon with the association and the adoption fee is waived. This way, the dog gets a better chance at finding a home to spend the rest of his life in peace and security. Our mediation team is best informed about the exact health status. If you have more questions, feel free to send us a message. It's clear what Pippin needs: experienced, patient and consistent people who understand him, give him clear guidance, and work lovingly with him on his insecurities. Whoever gives him this security wins a loyal companion for life. His dream home is single-story, quiet, and either rural or in a suburb. A garden and plenty of nature would be perfect. There should be no children or additional animals living in the household - Pippin loves being the only prince. Female dogs are possible depending on compatibility. Are you the person who completes Pippin's side and finally gives him the home he has been longing for? Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adopting, first read through the adoption process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and sterilized before travel arrangements (the exception being puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our mediation team.

About Pflegehund Pippin

What life with Pflegehund Pippin looks like

Pflegehund Pippin is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Pippin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Pippin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Pippin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Pippin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pflegehund Pippin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Pippin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Pippin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
