Adopt Philippe

Podenco · Male

Philippe ID No.: 1039483 Breed: Podenco Andaluz Age: approx. 06/2024 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 48 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Philippe (*6/2024, approx. 48 cm) is still a very insecure and reserved male Podenco Andaluz toward humans. Philippe was rescued from the streets together with Perico by our volunteer rescue team. For about three weeks, they survived completely on their own until they were finally caught and brought to our Spanish partner shelter TripleA in Marbella. Even during that time, both showed their playful and open nature, although they still wouldn’t allow themselves to be touched. Since arriving at the animal shelter, they’ve adapted to their new daily routine surprisingly quickly. Currently, Perico and Philippe live in a mixed dog group with male dogs and female dogs. Other dogs are absolutely everything to them: they adore contact with fellow animals above all else, are highly social, playful, and open. Therefore, we hope to find each of them a home where at least one confident, adult, and playful dog already lives—one who can provide them with security and accompany them through life. The two brothers can be rehomed separately—it’s only essential that each has a fellow animal present. Toward humans, Perico and Philippe are still somewhat shy, likely due to their challenging start in life. Philippe is naturally more reserved than his brother, which was already evident when they were on the street. However, it’s clear he would like to connect with people and enjoys human company—he simply needs a bit more time. With the support of the other dogs, he’s already making wonderful progress. Both male dogs are very energetic and love running and playing. Therefore, a securely fenced garden is a must for Philippe. We’re looking for a special home for Philippe: patient people experienced with insecure dogs, who are willing to work calmly and gradually, give him time, and provide a relaxed, low-stimulus environment where he can feel safe. Anyone who meets this special boy with heart, understanding, and patience will surely be rewarded with a wonderful, loving companion. Philippe has an EU pet passport for travel arrangements and is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean disease check: Yes Microchip: Yes Known illnesses: None Transport included Contact person: Ruth Bachhausen Tel: Email:

About Philippe

What life with Philippe looks like

Philippe is a adult podenco dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Philippe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Philippe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Philippe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Philippe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Philippe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Philippe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Philippe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
