Phoebe

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

I am Phoebe. I am a lively Labrador, sometimes a bit stubborn, but mostly overflowing with energy and love to give. My story hasn't been easy, but thanks to a chain of caring hearts, I was able to leave the shelter and join a foster family. Unfortunately, luck is still not on my side... My foster family has to be hospitalized and can no longer keep me. 💔 I have moved to another foster family, but after a few weeks, my new foster family can no longer keep me because their situation changes abruptly. 🧡 Today, I am looking for a family again, a home that will open its arms and heart to me, even temporarily. I am eagerly waiting for someone who is willing to love me for who I am, with my strengths, my weaknesses, my past... and all the love I have to offer. 🐶 I really don't want to go back to the shelter... With my companion in misfortune, Bouchon, we were left behind. Our human left... without a word, without a glance. For days - how many exactly, I couldn't tell - we waited. We were alone in the apartment, behind a dirty window, without food or hope. The smell, the dirt, the silence... and hunger. Bouchon, he was getting weaker and weaker. I kept hope. One day, finally, everything changed. A kind man, Théo, came. Thanks to him, to many wonderful people, to associations, to the city hall, we were freed. Bouchon joined a foster family where he could rest and regain his strength. And I was placed in a shelter... I left recently to finally join a family! I was so happy! But fate is cruel... My aunt has to be hospitalized and can no longer keep me. 💔 So I am in a new family again, but fate is cruel again and this time a sudden change in the life of my new foster family does not allow her to keep me... So I am again looking for someone who can finally open his heart and door to me. I am full of energy, and I need a family who will make me move, play with me, offer me regular walks. I am an intelligent dog, who likes to learn, but I also have my little character. I can sometimes be a bit stubborn, so I will need patient, gentle but firm humans, who will guide me with kindness. Because of what I have experienced, I have developed what is called resource protection: it means that I tend to want to keep for myself what I consider precious (my bowl, my toys...). Nothing insurmountable, but for this reason, it is preferable that I am the only dog in the house. I need calm, stability, a reassuring daily routine to finally feel fully safe. I am very close to humans: I love to be taken care of, to be listened to, to be understood. With other dogs, as I protect what is mine, we prefer to avoid canine cohabitation inside for now. On the other hand, no problem outside. I am not really a fan of cats. Children? Why not, if they are gentle and respectful of my space.

About Phoebe

What life with Phoebe looks like

Phoebe is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Brigade Animale Bénévole in brigade animale benevole.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phoebe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phoebe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Brigade Animale Bénévole handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phoebe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phoebe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Brigade Animale Bénévole will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phoebe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phoebe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Brigade Animale Bénévole early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phoebe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
