Pixi

Male · Young · 2 years

Due to the ongoing proceedings, we are looking for a foster home for him with priority for adoption. Pixi is a very young dog of terrier type. At first contact with humans, he is shy, but he quickly learns to trust people. He was taken in following an intervention. When he arrived at the shelter, he was afraid of humans and couldn't walk on a leash—but what's truly surprising is how quickly he picked it up. Currently, he allows himself to be nicely fitted with a harness, and on walks, he stays on a loose leash close to his human, occasionally seeking interaction. He comes running back beautifully when called, and when you open your pocket, he leans against your leg, eagerly asking for treats. Once he trusts a human, he starts climbing onto their lap to be as close as possible. Street traffic still stresses him out, but day by day, Pixi is making tremendous progress. As befits a terrier, Pixi loves to sniff every bush he encounters, and in familiar territory, he runs around and plays wildly, just like a young dog should—but he always finds time to come over to his human for treats or a bit of petting. What’s also striking is that from the very beginning, Pixi had no trouble entering indoor spaces. He’s relaxed there, exploring and sniffing around, and once he’s finished, he comes over to his human for a spot on the couch or on their lap. For a long time, he lived in a kennel with his brother Dix, with whom he gets along extremely well. He’d probably thrive in a home with another dog as well.

About Pixi

What life with Pixi looks like

Pixi is a small young adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
