DOG PLUTO OK. 8 YEARS 616093900977008 (67/20) SIZE: MEDIUM VACCINATIONS: YES neutering: YES BARN: B17 QUICK INTAKE: – very delicate emotionally, shy, and cautious – likes walks, though he sometimes circles on the leash – doesn't like other dogs, avoids them – does well in rooms, doesn't destroy – gourmet connoisseur Profile prepared by volunteer animal shelter Pluto here! I arrived at Promyk before the pandemic. To be honest and diplomatic, my start at Promyk wasn't easy. I viewed humans as evil. I avoided any contact at all costs, even eye contact. I immediately blocked any attempts to get close to me, showing a full suit of sharp teeth. My fight seemed futile. The volunteer aunts kept coming to me persistently. They wouldn't give up. The volunteer aunts visited me and broke down the protective shell that tightly enclosed my image of them and the world. The pandemic broke out, and visits ceased. I had time to mentally process my situation. I'll admit, I missed those visits and their efforts to engage me in cooperation. When restrictions were lifted, the volunteer aunts returned, and I was glad. At some point, I moved from the kennel to the "room" kennel. This was what I needed to spark a desire for cooperation within me. So here I am, behind bars. The seasons pass one after another. I've realized that it's a waste of time to waste time on fear. I love walks. I appreciate visits. I've learned to accept touch, but on my terms, when I want a gentle pat. I have no destructive urges, I like to lie on a blanket and relax. I love peace and harmony. That's why I don't take well to meeting other dogs. I avoid them. I'm very determined to overcome my fears and continue to surprise the volunteer aunts with my progress. I'm opening up more and more to people and the world. I'm ready for a big step – going to a home. Let's meet! Join me for a walk. Maybe we're meant to walk through life together. Warm regards, Pluto All information provided in the description is based on observations of the animal at the animal shelter. Trafiłem do schroniska jeszcze przed pandemią. Pamiętacie kiedy to było? Mówiąc wprost i dyplomatycznie, moje początki w Promyku nie należały do łatwych. Uważałem ludzi za zło. Za wszelką cenę unikałem jakiegokolwiek kontaktu, choćby wymiany spojrzeń. Natychmiast blokowałem próby zbliżenia się do mnie, demonstrując pełny garnitur ostrych zębisk. Na nic zdała się moja walka. Ciotki wolontariuszki przychodziły do mnie uparcie. Nie dawały za wygraną. Ciotki-wolontariuszki odwiedzały mnie i pukały w skorupę lęku krępującą ściśle moje wyobrażenie o nich i świecie. Wybuchła pandemia i odwiedzin już nie było. Miałem czas na przetrawienie mentalnie mojej sytuacji. Przyznam, że zabrakło mi tych wizyt i starań o moje zaangażowanie we współpracę. Po rozluźnieniu obostrzeń wróciły wolo-ciotki i ucieszyło mnie to w serduszku. W pewnym momencie z boksu z budami trafiłem do boksu z „pokoikiem”. Tego potrzebowałem, by wzbudzić we mnie chęć współpracy. Kocham spokój i harmonię. About PLUTO

What life with PLUTO looks like

PLUTO is a adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting PLUTO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PLUTO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PLUTO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PLUTO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PLUTO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PLUTO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know PLUTO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
