Poppy

Poodle · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Personality:Meet Poppy, our adorable fluffy puppy. She came to us as a stray so we have limited information about her. While being here she has been carried around the site, but her experience of the world is pretty limited at the moment. Like all puppies, she is playful and affectionate, but is a little mouthy and likes to chew on things. We would recommend that you enroll Poppy into puppy training classes to help her start off on the right foot. Behaviour:Wiggly little fidget Poppy is a curious, and confident lady who likes to explore. She is very confident for her age and loves investigating new things, which then ends up with her chewing them! Housing:She will not be able to be left alone at all initially, and will need someone home at all times to begin with. Then she will need gradual exposure to being left alone. She will need access to a private, secure garden. Please do not apply for this puppy if you are not in a position to adopt immediately. We will not process applications with holidays approaching. Children/pets:Poppy can be rehomed with Children 10+, a dog savvy cat and/or a calm dog that would be comfortable with a puppy. Please note- puppies are mouthy and nippy, so adults should consider this before applying. Vet history:She is flea, wormed and microchipped. She has had their first vaccination and will need to return to the shelter for their 2nd vaccination and neutering (when She is old enough) Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £250. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated. About Poppy

What life with Poppy looks like

Poppy is a puppy/kitten poodle dog waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poppy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
