adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Potato has found a home! His story: Potato is a boy with a particularly laid-back look and a relaxed demeanor. Together with his eight siblings—Elsa, Kirby, Mina, Milkshake, Bubble, Summer, Malia, and Alfie—he currently lives in the shelter in Fântânele with Mama Nova. The birth of the nine puppies was a surprise, as Mama Nova was originally caught only for spaying. In the shelter, the puppies have a small kennel, limited running space, and little human affection—safe yes, but no real opportunity to explore the world. Potato is curious, playful, and already shows his own personality. He loves playing with his siblings, roughhousing, and discovering new things. A puppy in the home means chaos, play, first lessons, lots of attention, and patience—Potato brings exactly the right mix of charm and energy! Visually, Potato is a handsome boy with soft fur and an attentive gaze. His final size is still uncertain; the mother is athletic and about 55 cm tall. With time, Potatoes' paws will develop into strong legs for play and walks. By the end of February, Potato will be ready to move into his own home. He wishes for a forever family that will lovingly accompany him. A foster home would also be a valuable stepping stone into a new life. At the moment, Potato is a playful, self-assured puppy full of curiosity. In a few months, he will also enter puberty, a phase where loving consistency in his upbringing must be worked on. Therefore, it makes sense to support Potatoes' new people in their cooperation with a positively working dog training class. Patient and loving training will foster his development and strengthen the bond to his trusted people. Through regular contact with fellow animals and many positive experiences with his people, Potato will hopefully develop into a happy and reliable companion. Many thanks to the community! You have given Potato his name! As of 08.01. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Community! Ihr habt Potato seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 08.01.2026

About Potato

What life with Potato looks like

Potato is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Potato, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Potato?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Potato on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Potato if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Potato already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Potato isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Potato and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
