adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Puma has found his luck! His story: Puma, at 49 cm and 23 kg, is a compact, pure joy of life waiting for you. Puma was rescued from the public shelter Zalau, where unfortunately animals are still being killed. Now it's time for Puma to learn the sunny sides of life. Puma is a very friendly, energetic, and often effusive, two-year-old male dog who loves being petted and enjoys being with people. In his kennel, he suffers greatly and is often very restless, especially when people are nearby and he can't get out. But unfortunately, our helpers on site only have two hands and can't attend to all the dogs at once. Therefore, Puma urgently needs people who can give him the necessary attention. When Puma is finally allowed out, he enjoys his freedom very much, likes to play with his fellow animals, and curiously explores his surroundings. But he also constantly seeks human contact. Puma seeks people who are not expecting anything from him and who let him come in peace. Whether he already knows life in the house, we don't know. Leash and harness don't seem to bother him. He gets along well with fellow animals, but whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. Whoever adopts Puma should be aware that they are bringing a small power package into their home. At two years old, he has passed the puppy stage and the teenage years should be coming to an end, but he still has a lot to catch up on. The dog ABC is probably still unfamiliar to him. From house cleanliness to manners, and the need to be alone, he probably still has a lot to learn. Positive, consistent, and loving training will surely help. Pumas favorite people should already have some dog experience. Attending dog training classes would also be helpful. Our energy bundle also needs sufficient mental stimulation for his smart head so that he doesn't come up with silly ideas, for he certainly has a bit of a trickster in his neck. Children in the family should be a bit more sturdy because with his overflowing love to give, he could be quite charming 😉. Puma travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, together with his EU pet passport, to his new home. Even a foster home would be a welcome option for him so that he can finally escape the dreary kennel life. A dog bed is free for Puma? He is eagerly waiting for your request. Thank you, Marita R.! You gave Puma his name and thus his identity. Status: 29.05.

Stand: 29.05.2025

About Puma

What life with Puma looks like

Puma is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
