Puma

Mixed Breed · Female

Ability: Puma is an exceptionally charming girl, looking for a person she can trust and who will try to understand her needs. Pumcia unfortunately tends to get very excited quickly (at the sight of a dog or during too intense play), but fortunately she can also calm down quickly and return to a more stable version of herself. She values moments spent with the caregiver in the rooms - she spends time sniffing, calming down with a delicious chew, but also lying next to the handler and enjoying a temporary break from the shelter's chaos. Physical contact strongly excites her, but she clearly communicates when she needs more space from the human. Puma is learning many new things at the animal shelter, discovering toys and trying to find her way on walks. From the condition she arrived in, as well as the numerous scars and overall skin condition, it can be assumed that she has not received much care in her previous life. Therefore, we are discovering the world anew, and potential adopters must be open to further work with the dog. Puma is a very strong dog, walks on a leash are difficult for her, and at the moment she does not react positively to other animals - she is looking for a home where she can be an only dog. As a healthy and young dog of the TTB breed type, she is energetic and quick in emotions, therefore we do not recommend her for a home with small children. For Pumcia we are looking for a home: - ready to work with the dog, - understanding the dog's needs and the specifics of the TTB breed - without small children, with the possibility of walks in a quiet area (without heavy street traffic and a large number of people and dogs)

About Puma

What life with Puma looks like

Puma is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
