Pumba

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Pumba, 6 years old, is a male, unneutered Degu looking for a new home. Degus are very social animals and should never be kept alone. Therefore, we are looking for a home for Poldi where he can live with at least one other of his kind. However, the introduction to a new companion should be done with patience and experience as Poldi tends to bully his fellow inhabitants. The chemistry between them must therefore be carefully tested on an individual basis. We would like people who are familiar with the needs of Degus or have intensively studied their care for Poldi. A generously furnished, species-appropriate enclosure with many climbing, hiding and activity opportunities is a matter of course for him. If you want to give Poldi the chance at a suitable home with company and plenty of space to climb, run and discover, please contact us at our animal shelter.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumba?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumba if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Pumba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. directly what is included and what Pumba still needs.
What happens if Pumba isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
