Queen

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Just before the Christmas holidays in 2022, our friends from Arca Sevilla received an appeal for help. Two dogs urgently needed a new family because their owner fell seriously ill and was in need of care. Bimba and Queen had spent their entire lives together and were practically inseparable, so we made every effort to find a solution for the two ladies that would spare them another separation. But unfortunately, the situation at the home for the friendly little dog girls became increasingly dramatic, and the day came much too quickly when they had to be relocated to the animal shelter. Now Bimba has found a home (and we don't mean to be mistaken, we are very happy for the cheerful water dog princess), but for the 8-year-old (as of July 2023) Queen, the world collapses once again. Queen is a large mixed-breed girl, and her size alone scares many people away, making them unwilling to give her a home, but in reality, Queen is just a big cuddle cushion. Our beloved queen is quiet and clingy, she knows what life in a house is like and loves people. Royal claims and special wishes are completely foreign to our tender Queen, all she needs is a cozy place to lie, a hand that strokes her, and a voice that assures her that everything will be okay. Queen longs to join a family again—and we share this wish with her, knowing how difficult it will be to find such special people for an older dog like her and her size who can make her dreams come true. Queen is still very fit for her age and loves long (and appropriate to her size) leisurely walks. She gets along with all the dogs at the animal shelter and convinces even the biggest skeptics and the tiniest yappers with her calm, thoughtful, and always relaxed demeanor. Our Andalusian grandma is looking for a family that would still give her a beautiful old age, a home where she can feel at home again, with her own place and the security that she can stay until the end of her life.

About Queen

What life with Queen looks like

Queen is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Queen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Queen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Queen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Queen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Queen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Queen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Queen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
