Ragnar

Dachshund · Unknown

Ragnar – East Anglia 5 years Blue and Tan Smooth Coat Tweenie (10kg) Not Neutered Adoption fee £350 Ragnar is a friendly, lovable and affectionate dog who is looking for a home where he will be truly loved and cherished. He is a wonderful companion who enjoys being close to his people and being involved in everyday family life. Ragnar enjoys being playful and having fun when the mood takes him, but he is equally happy snuggling up on the sofa or soaking up the sunshine. Ragnar enjoys his walks and exploring new places, although he can be reactive to people when out and about, which may result in barking and pulling on the lead. At home, he will often bark when visitors arrive, but he settles quickly. He can occasionally mark indoors, so his new family will need to be understanding of this. Ragnar can be left alone for a couple of hours. He may bark or howl when his family leave and may bark again when they come back, but he settles while they are out and waits patiently for their return. Ragnar resource guards food from other dogs in the home and is therefore fed separately to ensure everyone remains comfortable and relaxed at mealtimes. Ragnar is good with children aged eight years and over, and would be happy in a family home with respectful children who understand how to interact with dogs. Ragnar particularly enjoys the company of other female dogs and would love a home where he can share his life with one or more female canine companions. He is looking for a home with a secure garden of his own where he can enjoy spending time outdoors, relaxing in the sunshine and enjoying the freedom to potter about safely. Ragnar is a devoted and affectionate dog with so much love to give. In the right home, with understanding owners, he will reward his family with endless companionship, loyalty and affection. Requirements in a home: Can live with spayed female canine companions pending a successful meet Can live with dog savvy children aged 8+ Cannot live with cats For more information please email

About Ragnar

What life with Ragnar looks like

Ragnar is a adult dachshund dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ragnar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ragnar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ragnar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ragnar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ragnar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ragnar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ragnar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
