Simba

Domestic Shorthair · Male · Adult · 10 years

Simba is a generous and sensitive puppy with a big personality. He is looking for his forever home as an outcat in a family with or without older children, and without other pets. Hello! My name is Simba. I have been lucky and have had many human friends. Those who know me well say I have a special ability to leave trails. Maybe because I am so obvious, or because it is easy to recognize the vulnerable side in me. I am a social fire that runs to you when you call me – especially if I sense that there might be a treat or a good snack. I appreciate treats, but I am also clear about my boundaries and say no when it’s enough. In the beginning, I can come across as unpredictable. Rough movements with my arms can make me unsure, but I find my footing as I understand that you only want me well. I am just unsure at first and need time to learn you. I love to spend my days relaxing in my favorite spots – whether it’s in the sunbeam, in the kitchen, or, best of all, in your lap or in your bed. In the evenings, I like to snuggle in your bed, ready for a good night’s sleep. Balls are fun! That’s when the silly and quirky “orange” personality in me comes out.

NO·Show original

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a large adult domestic shorthair cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Needs to be outdoor cat, sensitive to sudden movements, requires patient owner

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
