Rex

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

Rex is a 6-year-old, unneutered Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) with a friendly nature. He can easily be left alone for several hours and remains calm during this time. We would describe him as a "Light" Malinois. Rex gets along very well with most other dogs and greets them in a friendly manner. He is an intelligent, open-minded dog who forms a close bond with his humans. As is typical for a Malinois, Rex needs to be physically and mentally engaged. He brings many good qualities, but still has some behavioral deficits. Therefore, he is looking for a home with people who can provide him with patience, consistency, and loving guidance, and who enjoy working with him further. Since we do not know how Rex behaves around children, we are cautiously placing him exclusively in a household without children. If you are interested, please contact;

Rex ist ein 6 Jahre alter, nicht kastrierter Belgischer Schäferhund (Malinois) mit einem freundlichen Wesen. Er kann problemlos auch mehrere Stunden alleine bleiben und verhält sich dabei ruhig. Wir würden ihn eher als Malinois „Light“ beschreiben. Mit den meisten anderen Hunden ist Rex sehr gut verträglich und begegnet ihnen freundlich. Er ist ein intelligenter, aufgeschlossener Hund, der eine enge Bindung zu seinen Menschen aufbaut. Wie es für einen Malinois typisch ist, möchte Rex körperlich und geistig beschäftigt werden. Er bringt viele gute Eigenschaften mit, hat jedoch noch einige Erziehungsdefizite. Daher sucht er ein Zuhause bei Menschen, die ihm mit Geduld, Konsequenz und liebevoller Führung die nötige Orientierung geben und Freude daran haben, weiter mit ihm zu arbeiten. Da wir nicht wissen, wie sich Rex gegenüber Kindern verhält, vermitteln wir ihn vorsorglich ausschließlich in einen Haushalt ohne Kinder. Bei Interesse wenden Sie sich bitte an;

About Rex

What life with Rex looks like

Rex is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Wiesbaden in Wiesbaden.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wiesbaden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wiesbaden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wiesbaden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
