adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Rick has found a home! His story: How is it possible that four little wonders are still unwanted? The siblings Rick, Freyja, Matilda, and Marlon were simply discarded. No one wanted to take responsibility for the puppy babies – a fate for many. Now, the little one can rest at our animal rescuer Carmen's home in Bistrita. Starting in mid-December, the journey to happiness can begin, and Rick could pack his little backpack to travel to his heart's people. The little Rick is a true cuddle bear. The little white blaze runs evenly from the forehead to the white snout, and his light fur color looks even more interesting with some dark spots. At the moment, Rick is like his siblings, still a little worm. We assume he will be about medium-sized. The magical puppy is enthusiastic with his brother and the sisters through the small world of the foster home and enjoys the attention and care of the people there. Rick has not learned much in his little life yet. What awaits him is the whole dog ABC, whether it's leash training, indoor cleanliness, or family rules, which you will prepare for him. But what does a puppy on the way to adulthood need most? Motivation and encouragement, love, and friendly words, consequences from which one can learn without fearing them. Is that so simple? One thinks, yes. But when a little puppy enters puberty, it can indeed turn into a little stubborn head. So much happens in the little puppy's head, and the juvenile years often start with a setback, one feels. But the little rascals only take off to then unfold into a great young dog, and that by your side. With dog schools or dog trainers who positively support you and Rick, you can bring in professionals who can be valuable companions on the exciting path of training. Rick is already in the starting blocks. He now needs people who will fall in love with him and be aware of the responsibility to be there for a little puppy. Rick is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He is in good health. We thank the godmother Marie, who gave Rick his name and thus an identity. As of: 14.02.

Denkt man, ja. Stand: 14.02.2025

About Rick

What life with Rick looks like

Rick is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rick?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rick if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rick isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
