Robby

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Robby (born 05/2020) is a smart, athletic, and eager-to-work male who loves being out and about with his people and sharing experiences together. He enjoys extensive activities such as canicross, has fun with mantrailing, and likes learning new tricks. At the same time, he is a cuddly companion who gets his daily dose of petting and brings joy with his funny, goofy nature. With familiar people, Robby is affectionate and attentive. Strangers, however, are often met with initial suspicion and uncertainty. He is also selective with other dogs and not compatible with all dogs. Encounters with other dogs in particular present a major challenge for him and his caregiver: in such situations, Robby can develop strong frustration and may direct it toward the person holding the leash. A responsible approach to this issue and appropriate management are essential. Robby knows the muzzle and wears it without any problems. His previous owner has already done a great deal to support him: exchanges with trainers, courses on dog encounters, and a seminar on stress management, however, have not yet led to any lasting improvement. With a heavy heart, she is therefore looking for a solution that gives Robby the chance of a more relaxed life. Robby needs very experienced people who can read his body language well, recognize critical situations early, and manage them safely. He is looking for a calm, structured home without small children, where settling in and building trust come first. Professional training should absolutely be part of the plan. Robby's willingness to learn and his enjoyment of shared activities offer good starting points for continuing to work with him. Robby is good at being left alone, and he is also used to riding in the car. He is looking for people who take his needs seriously, give him a sense of security, and are willing to engage with his challenges over the long term and with expert knowledge. Robby is not a dog for beginners. He deserves people who will give him a fair chance with expertise and a sense of responsibility. Robby is vaccinated and microchipped, but not neutered. The neutering would be paid for by his previous owners.

Robby (geb.

About Robby

What life with Robby looks like

Robby is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Robby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
