Robin

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Robin, an 8-year-old male, has lost his home due to a death and is waiting at the Dormagen animal shelter. Can anyone offer short-term or permanent care? Sometimes life hits hard and nothing is the same... This is what happened to 8-year-old Robin. In February 2019, he moved from Miskolc to his new family and had a beautiful, happy time there. But in August, his owner passed away and his owner, who is seriously ill and in need of help, cannot care for Robin. That's why he was brought to the Dormagen animal shelter as a temporary solution. Due to the formalities that need to be completed after a death, the relatives could only inform us about the events at the end of September. Now we are looking urgently for a place for Robin so that the "temporary shelter" is as short as possible. Robin has coped surprisingly well with the emergency change of residence. When Aileen and Leo were there, he made direct friendly contact with both of them, with whom he seems to prefer men; Leo was his absolute favorite. Unfortunately, we have hardly been able to get any information about Robin from his previous home due to the sad circumstances. He knows the life in the house, is house-trained, etc. In the shelter, he does not really show interest in other dogs on walks or the like. There was some noise with the male dog in the adjacent pen (which is common with "fence encounters" and does not allow any real conclusions about general compatibility with conspecifics), but here Robin could be quickly and easily distracted and distracted by his caregiver. All in all, Robin seems to be a rather uncomplicated, people-friendly dog who is very happy about conversation and stroking. He is very fit and agile and will probably settle in a new home very quickly. If you have fallen in love with Robin and can imagine giving him a place (even temporarily) in your home, please contact us at short notice. We want to contribute to the fact that his stopover in the shelter is as short as possible! Please click on the link "Self-disclosure" so that the PDF file opens. Depending on the browser, the file opens directly on the screen or must be clicked again at the bottom of the screen after it has been downloaded. You can fill in the fields of the file without additional programs and then click with the right mouse button in the document and select the option "save as". Please select the storage location, e.g. the "Desktop" of your computer. The file name "Self-disclosure_Canifair_" is predefined. Please add your family name after the last "_" so that we can better assign the file. Please remember to enter the dog's name in the first field at the top. If you now send an email to the advertiser mentioned in the ad, please attach the saved self-disclosure. This gives us a first impression and makes the initial contact easier and faster. Your data will not be passed on to third parties and will only be used within the framework of a dog inquiry or the requested adoption.

About Robin

What life with Robin looks like

Robin is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Canifair e.V. in Kaarst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canifair e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canifair e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Robin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canifair e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
