Adopt Rodeo-2

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Origin Country: Hungary This beauty was named Rodeo. He was found wandering aimlessly in the city center of Kecskemét on February 3, 2023, and fortunately, the animal shelter was informed. A shelter worker picked Rodeo up immediately. Upon arrival at the shelter, as usual, they checked for a chip, but unfortunately, they came up empty. It also seems no one misses Rodeo, as he waited in vain for his people. No one came to take Rodeo home. We are crossing our fingers that he will soon get to experience the sunny sides of life and find his own people who will love and cherish him! Rodeo is a friendly, active, and attentive four-legged friend with a lot of energy and joy for life, who enjoys a few cuddles. We suspect that he had to live as a chained dog and was largely on his own. He needs urgent physical and mental stimulation and wants to be challenged and supported so that he can develop into a great and loyal companion. He needs dog-experienced people who can give him clear guidance. He would surely have a lot of fun with sporting activities, and his new people can discover his hidden talents. Of course, Rodeo still has to do a bit of homework, but he seems to be a clever little fellow and will quickly understand the rules of the game. On the leash, he already runs well, and he is naturally still trainable. How he gets along with his fellow animals will be tested soon, and an update will follow. Update from July 30, 2023: Contact with his fellow animals is being trained under supervision and with a muzzle. Update from October 7, 2023: Shelter worker Istvan has worked with Rodeo and Léni-6, and they are now together on the playground under supervision, which is going well. On May 5, 2025, a voluntary, Hungarian helper writes: "Rodeo came to the animal shelter in 2023. On the mentor day, he had the opportunity to go for a walk with his mentor. During the walk, he behaved kindly and lovingly, and he was happy when he was spoken to and stroked by a child. During the walk, he specifically asked for cuddles and his mentor’s touch. He walked nicely on the leash, paid attention to his handler, and when he asked to stop, he complied. He is smart and clever and wants to be liked. He showed interest in his surroundings. He is a beautiful dog. His need for movement, the hunger for love, and the desire for knowledge are great, which is why it is difficult for him to wait in his kennel." On April 3, 2026, a shelter worker writes: "He still waits… and waits… This wonderful, impressive young man has been waiting for a long time for someone to finally take him home. There is so much in him that only a owner can truly appreciate. He is full of energy, has a high need for movement, and loves an active life. He is accustomed to other dogs and can adapt well to them with proper introduction. He runs well on the leash, making joint walks already a joy. He is not for everyone, but for someone who loves strong, active dogs, he is a true treasure. He is looking for an owner who can channel his energy and be a partner in everyday life. He has been waiting a long time… perhaps exactly for you." For our wonderful Rodeo, we are looking for loving and adventure-loving dog friends who can make up for what he has missed and offer him a happy and varied life. Exciting walks, many cuddles, dog-appropriate stimulation, full family integration, and people who go through thick and thin with him, we wish for our Rodeo from the bottom of our hearts. Who will show Rodeo what is in him? Rodeo is ready for travel.

Wem darf Rodeo zeigen, was in ihm steckt? Rodeo ist reisefertig.

About Rodeo-2

What life with Rodeo-2 looks like

Rodeo-2 is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rodeo-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rodeo-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rodeo-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rodeo-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rodeo-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rodeo-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rodeo-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
