Ron

Male

RON - approximately 4 years old, ID number: 900255001126935 (217/25) VACCINATIONS: YES BOX: 27 Ron is a gentle and sociable dog who builds relationships with humans at his own pace. As befits an Akita, he has a lot of independence and his own opinion, so he will best suit people who understand that trust does not always appear immediately. On walks, Ron usually takes care of his own business. He likes to quietly explore the surroundings, sniff and observe without seeking excessive human attention. However, he shows a completely different side in the box - then he approaches for contact, cuddles up and enjoys being scratched. This dog has a lot of charm. He can be a bit clumsy and awkward, but that's what makes him hard not to look at with sympathy. He needs a calm, understanding approach and a caregiver who will give him time, space and a sense of security. Ron walks well on a leash. In contact with other dogs, he shows interest, although it seems as if he is a little afraid of them. At this point, it's difficult to clearly determine what his intentions are towards them, so any acquaintance with another dog should take place calmly and under the supervision of shelter staff. Ron is not a particularly greedy dog - food can't bribe him. However, he is very clean. If he sees that someone takes him for a walk, he can hold back his needs and wait to leave the box. He tolerates brushing well and patiently submits to grooming. This is an important feature, especially in a dog with this type of coat. Ron is looking for a calm, responsible and patient home. One that will not require him to be open immediately, but allow him to gradually show how nice and affectionate he can be as a dog. We invite those interested in getting to know Ron closer to contact the shelter at 58/522 37 80 (daily).

To ważna cecha, szczególnie u psa o takim typie sierści. Ron szuka domu spokojnego, odpowiedzialnego i cierpliwego. About Ron

What life with Ron looks like

Ron is a adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
