Ron

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Ron is 8 years old, a true gentleman, cuddly, playful, and friendly with everyone. He’s always still curious and sounds like a dog that one would love to have around – and that’s how Ron is for all animal welfare workers at the small animal shelter “El Buen Amigo.” Despite this, Ron’s chances of finding a loving family for a comfortable old age are very slim, because Ron is a listed dog. As a Pitbull, he can’t travel to Germany, and there are only a few EU countries that don’t judge dogs based on their appearance. Ron has never caused anyone harm in his entire life, and that, even though he doesn’t particularly like other dogs. He knows the rules, walks well on a leash, and knows how to behave, but he is still condemned to a life behind bars. Ron is looking for a home in a country where Pitbulls and their mixes are allowed. And to find his future best friends, he needs YOUR help. Share our adorable cuddly bodybuilder as often and as far as you can. Maybe a dog lover will see him and invite him to sit on their couch … Ron is far from being old and rusty. He is healthy and open-minded, enjoys walks, and loves to ride in the car. We wish from the bottom of our hearts that he doesn’t have to grow old in the animal shelter, only to die in a cage.

DE·Show original

About Ron

What life with Ron looks like

Ron is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
