Rudy &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male

Rudy is a two-year-old handsome Bodeguero male with bright eyes, quick legs and a heart as big as Spain - and just as sunny. His life so far hasn't been quite as cozy as Rudy would like it to be today. From puppyhood onwards, the cheerful terrier was kept by his owner in the garden and was supposed to keep an eye out there. Whether Rudy took this task particularly seriously is unknown. Probably he did it with a mixture of sense of duty, Bodeguero curiosity and the hope that maybe someone would come over to play. When his owner fell ill and had to move into a nursing home, his son took Rudy in for care and asked for help finding a suitable home. Rudy discovers life as a house dog at his foster family. Not cautiously and not half-heartedly, but with the enthusiasm of a little dog who has noticed that there are cushions, closeness, conversation and family connection inside. From the former garden dog, he has now become a convinced housemate. Rudy wants to be involved, understand, learn and please. He is very people-oriented, attentive and eager to learn, a little goof with charm who already knows his name very well and has also learned the basic commands. Rudy is active, witty and full of joie de vivre. If you are looking for a dog that asks what will be done today, he is just right. He finds playing fantastic, movement anyway, and if there is an extensive cuddle session afterwards, Rudy's world is in order. He is not a dog who only wants to lie decoratively on the sofa, even if he would like to get to know this sofa more closely. Rudy wants to be busy, experience something together and go through everyday life with his people. Rudy gets along well with other dogs. He also likes children, so he can imagine himself as a family dog, provided that the children treat a dog respectfully. With his open, friendly nature and quick understanding, Rudy has really earned the title of beginner's dog. Of course, even a beginner's dog needs clear, loving guidance and people who give him security. Rudy brings everything with him to make the start easy, because he is happy about learning, orients himself at humans and provides a large portion of good mood on the side. Our play mobile is currently in excellent health and is already prepared for travel (chipped, vaccinated, castrated). Now all that's missing is the big luck of his own home. Rudy is looking for people who are in the mood for an active companion and want to laugh, practice, go for a walk, play and cuddle with him. He needs people who show him how beautiful dog life can be when you are loved and belong. Whoever adopts Rudy does not get a perfect little robot, thankfully, but a lively, loving Bodeguero with brains, cuddling needs and plenty of potential.

DE·Show original

About Rudy &#8211

What life with Rudy &#8211 looks like

Rudy &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudy &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudy &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudy &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudy &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudy &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudy &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudy &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
