Care for Dogs -tarhan tiimi on jo muutaman vuoden tehnyt läheisellä, erittäin köyhällä Budilan alueella merkittävää sterilointityötä. Juuri Budilan kaltaisilla alueilla, missä ihmisetkin ovat köyhiä ja elävät karuissa oloissa, on erityisen paljon koiria pihoilla ja vapaana ja niinpä myös pentuja syntyy jatkuvasti. Tarhan työntekijät käyvät säännöllisesti hakemassa alueen koiria steriloitaviksi ja palauttavat ne sitten koteihinsa operaation jälkeen. Lähes jokaisella vierailulla heiltä pyydetään, ettei steriloitavaksi haettua koiraa palautettaisi tai että tarhan työntekijät voisivat ottaa mukaansa jonkun koiran, joka juoksentelee alueella omistamattomana. Vaikka usein koiria ei voida ottaa tarhan ollessa täynnä, pääsee aina välillä joku onnekas mukaan. Näin kävi heinäkuussa 2026, kun upea Samba haettiin steriloitavaksi. Hän asui erään perheen pihalla, välillä vapaana ja toisinaan ketjuun kiinnitettynä. Hyvin pian perhe ilmoitti, ettei haluakaan häntä enää takaisin ja niin Samba sai jäädä tarhalle odottamaan uutta kotiaan. Samba on ystävällinen ja ihmisrakas persoona. Hän on heti onnellisena vastassa niin tuttuja kuin tuntemattomiakin ja nauttii selvästi saadessaan huomiota ja rapsutuksia. Hän vaikuttaa hyvin tasapainoiselta persoonalta ja esimerkiksi hihnalenkkeily on sujunut alusta asti hienosti. Samba on tullut hyvin toimeen muiden koirien kanssa, mutta pärjäisi varmasti mainiosti myös ainoana koirana. Hänen aiempi asuinalueensa on hyvin vilkas ja ehkäpä juuri siksi hän tuntuu tottuneen vähän kaikenlaiseen. Niinpä hän voisikin muuttaa monenlaiseen kotiin, kunhan perhe muistaa että Samba on vielä nuori ja kaipaa varmasti kotona liikuntaa ja tekemistä pysyäkseen tyytyväisenä.Samba on tarhalla käynyt muiden tutkimusten ohessa kuvattavana. Röntgeneistä näkyi terve luusto, eikä ongelmia löytynyt.
