Adopt Scooby

Male · Senior · 10 years

The animal is under the care of the foundation and does not reside in an animal shelter. Anyone interested in adoption is kindly asked to contact the foundation directly. urgently needs a home, even if temporary. Scooby is staying in a hotel under the care of Foundation Friends of Paluch. Scooby is an absolutely exceptional dog, not only in appearance, but also his loyalty towards a trusted person is amazing. Initially keeps a distance from strangers. Needs time to trust and fully open up. When he finally trusts someone, he gives himself completely, cuddles, gives kisses and actively seeks attention. Scoobi is a positive and very cheerful dog. Loves time spent with his beloved guide, is eager to learn and any physical activity. With regular work and rewarding good behavior, a lot can be achieved with him. It amazes us how much this sensitive giant has transformed since he arrived at the animal shelter - he has changed beyond recognition. Scooby is looking for a person who will be firm and from the beginning set clear and transparent rules of living together. Scooby loves to test boundaries, not always resulting in something good for the person or himself. After the initial lack of trust and attempts to push new people, Scooby proves to be a very social dog, willing to interact with humans. Scooby accepts calm and balanced dogs, able to give time to get used to each other. If attacked or provoked, he will respond the same way, so in the home he should be the only dog. We are also looking for a home without children. Our charge definitely finds it easier in a house with a garden, somewhere in a quiet neighborhood - he is rather not a city dog. Unfortunately, fate was not kind to him. In his young age, he ended up in an animal shelter, spent several of the best years of his life there, and when he thought that finally happiness smiled at him and he found his people, it turned out that he could enjoy them only for a short time, after which he returned behind the bars. We, his volunteers, however, do not lose hope. We know that somewhere there is a perfect home waiting for him, and soon our favorite will be taken away from the bars. This sensitive dog has deeply experienced the adoption twist and now needs someone patient, someone who will love him for better and for worse, someone to whom Scoobi could give himself completely. Maybe it's you? Scooby is currently staying in a dog hotel, where he is intensively working with a trainer. Currently, Scoobi, after behavior therapy, is at the stage of consolidating basic obedience behaviors and every day shows how wonderful a dog he is.

Początkowo trzyma dystans do osób obcych. Regularną pracą i wynagradzaniem dobrych zachowań można u niego wiele wypracować.

About Scooby

What life with Scooby looks like

Scooby is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Returned from previous adoption, needs patient owner with clear boundaries, requires behavioral training

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scooby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scooby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scooby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scooby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scooby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scooby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scooby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
