Sheela

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sheela comes from a difficult situation where a very loving person saved several dogs from misery and cared for them on a factory farm. Now that the farm must be dissolved, the dogs were in danger of being sent to a public shelter in Zalau. Fortunately, we were able to take Sheela and her sister Foxy from there and spare them an uncertain future. Sheela is in good condition, which shows that her previous owner took good care of her despite the difficult circumstances. With her estimated shoulder height of 50 cm and around 15 kg, Sheela has a pleasant, medium size. She is a real cuddle bug and loves being stroked and snuggled. She is friendly, open, and absolutely people-oriented. A true gem that simply wants to please! Sheela is an uncomplicated female dog who should integrate into a new family quickly and without problems. She still needs a bit of training: She is not yet a pro at walking on a leash, but since she shows no fears, she will learn with loving and consistent guidance. She gets along well with other animals and could therefore also be rehomed as a second dog. The compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. Whether she is already familiar with life in a house is unknown. Therefore, she might have a few mishaps at the beginning. It is not out of the question that in Sheela's lineage, herding or guard dogs might be found. Therefore, one should consider these traits beforehand and decide if Sheela can be provided with the right environment. Sheela has already passed her puppyhood and her teenage years and can now really start her journey at the young age of 3 years. She is looking forward to many adventures in nature, attending dog training classes, and lots and lots of cuddle hours. Sheela travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to her new home, together with her EU pet passport. She would also be happy to go to a foster home. Thank you, Silke K., for your namesake sponsorship, which has enabled Sheela to start a happy future. As of: 27.09.

Stand: 27.09.2025

About Sheela

What life with Sheela looks like

Sheela is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
