Ihr anfängliches Äußeres lässt annehmen, dass ihr vorheriges Leben nicht das einfachste und schönste war. Shiwa hatte wunde und offene Stellen am ganzen Körper, ihr Ernährungszustand war schlecht und ihr Gesäuge lässt vermuten, dass sie nicht erst einmal Junge bekommen hat. Ihr anfänglich skeptisches und unterwürfiges Verhalten lässt auch annehmen, dass sie durchaus unangenehme Situationen mit Menschen hatte. Man muss ihr ein bisschen Zeit zugestehen, um Menschen einschätzen zu können. Tut man dies, zeigt sie ihren grundsätzlichen freundlichen und netten Charakter. Sie hat sich bei fairem und souveränem Umgang durchgehend freundlich oder meidend gegenüber Menschen gezeigt. Sprich, wenn es ihr möglich ist, weicht sie Konflikten aus. Kontrollierte Hundezusammenführungen sind mit ihr gut möglich. Gemeinsames Spazierengehen zum Beispiel sind kein Problem. Im Freilauf bei direktem Kontakt ist sie aktuell eher kontrollierend. Mit Training kann man sicher einiges verbessern, aber wir würden eher einen Einzelplatz für sie suchen. Bei den Katzen im Tierheim zeigt sie sich dafür sehr desinteressiert. Kleine Kinder, die sie in Ruhe kennenlernen darf, sollten gut möglich sein, wenn sie zu Besuch kommen, aber für ein enges Zusammenleben mit Kleinkindern ist Shiwa eher nicht geeignet. Ihr Vorleben hat leider körperliche Spuren hinterlassen und so suchen wir für sie ein gemütliches Plätzchen eher im ländlichen Gebiet. Shiwa benötigte im Tierheim phasenweise Schmerzmittel, da ihre Hüften bzw. generell die Gelenke ihr schon zu schaffen machen. Als Listenhund muss für sie die erweiterte Sachkunde abgelegt werden.
