Sidney

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Senior · 8 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs some support Can I be left alone? Yes Sidney was recently left for around 8 hours and was said to be settled. He has found kennel life difficult so will need an initial settling in period, then his home alone building up gradually. Do I have any medical conditions? None This pet has a clean bill of health and can be fully insured after rehoming. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? Yes Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - securely housed Additional information True to his breed, Sidney can be intense when initially greeting other dogs but he is always keen to make new friends. Although he is best as the only dog in the home, he would enjoy some sociable walking buddies. In Sidney’s previous home, he was best friends with the 2 cats. He could potentially live with cats again and securely housed small pets, given appropriate introductions. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Sidney is a social butterfly but he can be boisterous in his excitement. He can live with children 8 years plus, who are confident around bouncy dogs. What type of environment would suit me? Sidney loves having a garden to chase his ball in and relax in the sun. He will need a private, secure garden in his new home. About Sidney Sidney is a wonderful boy who, much like his namesake Sid James, has bags of charm and a personality that’s impossible to resist. At 8 years old, he still has plenty of energy for chasing his favourite ball, but he also loves nothing more than relaxing with his favourite people. He has so much love to give and is patiently waiting for a family to welcome him into their hearts. In return, he’ll reward them with endless affection, loyalty, and companionship.

About Sidney

What life with Sidney looks like

Sidney is a small senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sidney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sidney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sidney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sidney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sidney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sidney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sidney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
