Simba

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Simba is 2 years old (as of 04/2023), he is small, very kind and knows life in the house - and yet the funny mini-mix is in the animal shelter of our partner in Linares. When Simba was a puppy, he was adopted by a really loving, older man. The owner of our heartbreaker was also more than willing to do anything for his new best friend, but forgot that his own age would not make taking care of a young dog any easier. We as animal welfare workers are always happy when seniors can have a four-legged companion, but without the right arrangements, dogs like Simba will end up in the animal shelter again and again. What happens if I have to go to the hospital? What if I can't go for a walk? What if I am no longer able to live in my home? These questions are unpleasant, but important to secure the future of the beloved companion - and one should not only ask them when you are older, anyone can get sick or have an accident. Simba was only two years with his beloved master and now he is in a large animal shelter, where small dogs can easily get lost because they cannot run in the big pack. And all of this because his owner realized that even small dogs want to be occupied, need to go for walks, want to play ... Simba is a funny companion, both externally and internally, who has no trouble making people smile. With his short legs, his charming underbite and his clever terrier head, he finds friends in the paw turn. The little charm also gets along well with other dogs, and it is quite possible that Simba will move in with an existing four-legged friend. Simba is an easygoing, kind buddy for young and old, suitable for a family as well as for active retirees, and experience with dogs is not necessarily required for a heartbreaker like Simba. Simba is ready to teach his new owners everything they need to know for a harmonious and joyful coexistence. Our handbag Adonis is patiently waiting for fans to find him. Simba would probably be delighted if he could book a box in one of our transporters soon, so he can travel to his new home to his own two-leggers.

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
