Sonny is a very young terrier-type dog who ended up in the shelter following an intervention; therefore, he is seeking a foster home with priority for adoption. At first, Sonny was extremely fearful, and only trusted individuals could go for walks with him. Currently, Sonny is making great progress, and he’s getting better and better at meeting new people. However, before he feels comfortable around someone, he needs several initial encounters. After that, he’ll happily come over for petting and shows interest in closeness. On walks, he walks nicely on a loose leash. Initially, he can get excited, but he quickly calms down. A new environment can be somewhat stressful for him—noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar places pose challenges for him. He doesn’t react aggressively; instead, he seeks support from humans and looks for calmness. When he sees other dogs, he’s delighted and has a positive attitude toward them. He prefers dogs that aren’t overly assertive, and he tends to feel anxious around loud, energetic dogs. We’re looking for a home that can provide him with time, space, and patience so he can gradually adjust to his new world and learn that people can be trustworthy.
