Spot

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Puppy

Spot is a 9 month old Jack Russell mix who needs his forever family! He's a sweet, affectionate and cuddly young dog. He's used to living with children, dogs and cats. Unfortunately, his previous owner couldn't devote enough time to his training. Spot hasn't learned the basics of obedience yet, so he will need to start from scratch with patience, kindness and consistency. Spot absolutely can't stand being alone. He cries, howls and destroys objects when left by himself. Even the presence of another dog isn't enough to calm him down. He also cries when his owners are present, showing that he has great difficulty managing his emotions and being independent. He is not yet house trained. He will be neutered soon. We are looking for a very involved family with plenty of time to help Spot learn and progress steadily. A family with experience with dogs and knowledge in dog training would be ideal to best meet his needs. 📞 Interested in Spot? About Spot

What life with Spot looks like

Spot is a puppy/kitten jack russell terrier dog waiting at SPA Valais in Uvrier.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Valais handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Valais will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Valais early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
